Pre-Reception

In Pre-Reception we aim to provide a happy, stimulating environment with emphasis on the all-round development of children.

The Pre-Reception, opened in September 2004, accommodates up to 40 children and is staffed by a teacher in charge, a Deputy Manager and a team of NNEBs and Teaching Assistants.

The curriculum in Pre-Reception is organised into six areas of learning and all activities work towards achieving the Early Learning Goals:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication, Language and Literacy
  • Mathematical development
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the World
  • Physical Development
  • Creative Development

  • Each day the children are involved in the organisation and preparation of a morning and afternoon snack of fruit or vegetables. They help to set the table and tidy up after the snack and it is a very sociable part of the day.

Encouraging independence and responsibility is the key to our Pre-Reception success. To achieve this, the children are encouraged to make choices from a broad range of activities, which have been carefully planned. Each area has been set up to allow the children to be as independent as possible.

An extended school day is available from 8.00am - 6.00pm.
