Netball at New Hall Preparatory School

Netball vs Heathcote
On Thursday, 2 October, Year 6 played Netball against Heathcote School. The match began well and New Hall quickly began to dominate the play. By the end of the first half we were winning by one goal. At the beginning of the second half, Victoria Dale scored a beautiful goal and Kirsten Moore made a number of interceptions in the centre court, which meant that by the end of the game we had 6 goals to their 0. The whole team played extremely well and I would like to congratulate all of the girls for their efforts. The team consisted of – Kirsten Moore, Tilly-Joy Makins, Rosie Oxlade, Sarah Kennedy, Victoria Dale, Marni Gaskin, Tegan Hockaday, Katie Ellis and Eleanor McCaffrey.

The Netball Feeder School Rally has been split into 2 year groups this year as it had become so popular over the years that over 30 teams were coming to play on one afternoon! This season the Year 6 team have their rally on Friday, 28 November and matches are planned against Heathcote School on Thursday, 2 October and Brentwood Preparatory School on 21 November to prepare the players. The Year 5 team have longer to get ready for their Feeder Rally which will be on Friday, 5 March. More matches are planned for the Lent Term.

In Years 3 and 4, the children are introduced to netball through playing High Fives. This is a game recommended by the Netball Association for younger players to enable the children to play in all the positions as they rotate regularly in the game, as well as learning to time- keep, score and keep track of whose centre pass it is.
